About
My blog, “Peace of Mind Economics”, captures two areas that I passionately research in order to deliver economic news while finding peace of mind through the noise.
As we grow older, we strive for peace of mind in many aspects of our lives. The security, control, and protection that we want for our health, career, family, and finances can be hard to come by in a world of global risk that changes so quickly. My role, personally and professionally, is to help people assess their perspective and approach to a peaceful and successful life, sustainably.
As an economist I’m always interested in how our lives and the decisions are dictated by the laws of economics, on the macro and micro level. What makes this area so interesting is that it is always changing – what works today may not work tomorrow.
The intersection between peace of mind and economics is the value I provide to my clients. This balance requires the quantitative knowledge of the markets, tax laws, estate laws, and the global economy and qualitative understanding of how emotions and behaviors impact decision making.
The goal of this blog is to further explore the intersection of psychology and economics, while respecting their individuality.

Personally
I am fortunate to be married to my wife Catharine for more than 20 years and we have three fantastic teenagers who help expand our outlook on life.
I come from a large Irish, catholic family with 3 siblings who are married and each having 3 kids. Growing up in this tight knit clan who are all educators, including my parents, shaped my perspective on learning, communication, and relationships.
The challenges, failures, and successes I experienced as a distance runner and playing college soccer (Go Bonnies!) built the foundation of what physical exercise means to me today. Living in Upstate NY this list has expanded to included skiing, skating, triathlons, sailing and hiking the 46ers in the Adirondacks but these activities are just as important to my mental health and happiness.
Finally, as parents we are fortunate that our teenagers still want to spend time with us, so we try to make travel a priority and appreciate the memories and experiences we take from these trips.
